Farke hails ‘one of the best performances of past 12 months’ after Leeds thrash Newcastle

Daniel Farke hailed Leeds’ 4-1 win over Newcastle as one of their best performances of the past 12 months after his side extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League season.

Leeds were dominant against Newcastle as they claimed their first home league win of the campaign thanks to goals from Jayden Bogle, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Noah Okafor and a Lewis Miley own goal.

Farke said the intensity and focus shown by his players had been evident throughout the opening weeks of the season.

“I was just aware that the boys were on it because we had an unbeaten start in the league and have played so, so well and wanted to extend this unbeaten start,” he said.

“Obviously we had the chance to win the first home game and to get already to eight points and you could feel that everyone was really on it.”

The Leeds boss insisted the display was not the result of any extra edge, pointing to the standards his side had already shown in training and in previous results.

“Even in the training weeks before they were on it, otherwise we wouldn’t have away wins at Nottingham Forest or something like this,” Farke added.

“So I wouldn’t say there was an extra edge but performance-wise you have to give credit to them. “It was one of the best performances, I think, over the last 12 months.”
