Everton have completed the signing of Ainsley Maitland-Niles from Olympique Lyonnais for around £4m.

The 29-year-old has signed a three-year contract at Goodison Park, keeping him with the Toffees until the end of June 2029.

Maitland-Niles becomes Everton’s seventh acquisition of the summer, following the permanent arrival of Merlin Röhl and the signings of Hayden Hackney, Tyrique George, Christian Nørgaard and Brennan Johnson, as well as Jack Grealish’s return on loan.

However, the Toffees have missed out on the signing of Monaco striker Folarin Balogun.

The striker is believed to have changed his mind over the move and instead returned to the Ligue 1 side.

Everton had also tried to sign Joshua Zirkzee from Manchester United before the deadline, but saw their bid rejected.
