Manchester United left-back target David Raum is open to a move to Old Trafford, as the club pursues alternatives to Lewis Hall, reports TEAMtalk.
The Red Devils have been pursuing a left-back this summer, and Hall has been their preference. However, it was recently revealed that Newcastle have no plans to let their star man go.
That's of particular importance having already seen Sandro Tonali, Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes leave this summer.
United are said to be looking into alternatives for Hall, and RB Leipzig's Raum is one of them.
He's said to be high on the list, particularly as he has just a year left on his deal, so despite the fact he has a £34million release clause, it's felt INEOS could negotiate for that to be lowered.
There's a suggestion that United could get Raum for under £30million.
It won't be an issue getting him on side, as the report states the German has previously spoken to United and would be happy with the prospect of moving there and competing for the left-back spot with Luke Shaw.
It's also suggested that there are a few other names on United's radar, such as Nathaniel Brown, Joaquin Seys, Adrian Truffert and Jorge Salinas.
Hall still an option
But for United, though Newcastle don't want to let Hall go, the Englishman remains an option.
Indeed, he remains highly regarded at Old Trafford and is himself open to the switch, despite his club's lack of desire to part with him.
United have not given up, but they have accepted that they might be best served looking elsewhere for now, hence the interest in the aforementioned players.
Though they might not get Hall now, the Red Devils hold out hope that their interest could bear fruit later down the line.
Whether they retain interest in the Magpies man if they sign Raum or any of the other options remains to be seen. The German is the oldest man on the radar, with the others rather young options.
As such, were United to sign a less experienced left-back this summer, there's a chance they maintain interest in Hall and look to sign him further down the line.
