Coventry complete deal for striker and close in on another

Coventry City have completed the signing of Taiwo Awoniyi from Nottingham Forest – and are also closing in on a deal for Fenerbahçe striker Sidiki Cherif.

Awoniyi joins the Sky Blues after spending the last four seasons in the Premier League with Forest, where he scored 21 league goals in 90 appearances.

“I’m very happy to complete my move to Coventry City,” Awoniyi said.

“I am very excited about this season, and I can’t wait to get started.

“I’m really looking forward to working with my new teammates. I have seen how amazing they have been last season, coming up from the Championship, they were incredible and now I am just excited to join them and get started for the new season.”

Meanwhile, City have ALSO agreed a a £20.5m deal to sign Guinea international Cherif, who look set to leave Fenerbahçe just a month after joining on a permanent deal.
