Coventry City duo still ‘weeks’ away from returning

Frank Lampard revealed Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Luke Woolfenden are still “some weeks” away from returning from injury after Coventry City’s 4-2 Carabao Cup win over Plymouth.

Kesler-Hayden is recovering from a hamstring problem, while Woolfenden has been troubled by a knee issue dating back to pre-season.

“Yeah, they’re closer. I haven’t got a specific date for you, to be honest,” Lampard told the Coventry Telegraph.

“I’ve been focused on different things but it’ll be some weeks still, for them both.

“It’s a hamstring with Kaine and a small issue with Woolfy’s knee that’s been bothering him through pre-season so yeah, that’ll be weeks.”

Lampard also provided an update on Coventry’s transfer plans, with the club continuing to assess potential arrivals and departures before the transfer window closes.

“We’ll see. You know it’s hard to say until things are done,” he said.

“I know there’s lots of rumours everywhere and that, but we’ll see and it’s much easier to answer after the window is shut on that one.”

The Coventry boss also expects some players to leave before the deadline.

“Yeah, for some players I think it’s as a squad takes shape some situations mean it’s better for the player and maybe for us that the players move on,” Lampard added.

“So again, those things will happen and it’s always better to speak about them after they’ve actually happened.”
