Liverpool set a condition to complete the deal

Manchester City have made a superb start to the Premier League, but they appear dissatisfied with their current squad and want more.

According to "Mundo Deportivo", the club haven't closed the transfer window, and reports from the Netherlands claim they're in talks to sign Cody Gakpo, Liverpool's 27-year-old forward.

The English club have reportedly reached a personal agreement with the agents of the Dutch international, and are on the verge of submitting a 100 million euro offer to Liverpool.

Should Gakpo join Manchester City for this sum, he would immediately become the most expensive transfer in the history of the Netherlands.

Frenkie de Jong holds that title for now, having moved from Ajax to Barcelona in 2019 for 75 million euros plus a maximum of 11 million euros in add-ons.

Liverpool, however, have yet to give the green light. They don't want to let Gakpo go until they've found a suitable replacement for the former PSV forward.

Bradley Barcola (Paris Saint-Germain) is close to joining, but Liverpool are also chasing another outstanding winger.
