Chelsea have rejected Leeds United’s opening loan offer for Mykhailo Mudryk, but talks between the clubs are continuing as the Blues look to find the Ukraine winger regular first-team football, TEAMtalk sources have confirmed.

The Whites have made an approach for Mudryk and remain in contact with Chelsea despite their initial proposal being turned down.

TEAMtalk understands the opening offer did not meet Chelsea’s demands, but the two clubs remain engaged in discussions and the move has not been ruled out.

Mudryk, 25, has not played competitive football for almost two years, with his last appearance for the Blues coming in November 2024.

He has since been serving a drugs ban, although an appeal lodged with the Court of Arbitration for Sport ultimately led to the case being resolved with the Football Association and Mudryk is now free to play again.

Chelsea’s priority is finding a club where Mudryk can play regularly and rebuild his rhythm after such a lengthy period out.

Leeds are therefore an attractive option, but they are not alone in looking at the winger.

TEAMtalk understands Coventry City, managed by Frank Lampard, remain another possibility, while other clubs have also shown an interest.

Chelsea want to find Mudryk solution

Mudryk is currently not training with Chelsea’s main first-team group as the club assesses his next move.

Chelsea head coach Xabi Alonso also suggested on Thursday that a decision had not yet been made.

Asked about Mudryk’s future, Alonso said: “We will see, we still have time to decide and we don’t have to rush on many decisions and at the right time, we will take them. At the moment, not yet.”

For now, Leeds remain in talks with Chelsea as they consider whether they can improve their proposal sufficiently to get a deal done.

Chelsea, meanwhile, continue to assess all options with the overriding objective of ensuring Mudryk gets the regular first-team football he needs.
