Cesc Fabregas' Chelsea clause confirmed
Cesc Fabregas reportedly has a clause in his current contract at Como that would allow him to join “top clubs” such as Arsenal, Barcelona or Chelsea.
The Spaniard has established himself as one of the best young managers in world football following a sensational stint as Como head coach and his progress is being closely monitored by a host of the biggest teams in Europe.
In his debut season as Como boss, Fabregas led the club to their highest league finish since 1987, while they subsequently qualified for the Champions League for the first time in their history last year after finishing fourth in Serie A.
As a result of his impressive work with the Italian side, Fabregas has been linked with several major clubs across Europe and it’s understood that he was under consideration by Chelsea before they opted to appoint Xabi Alonso this summer.
Arsenal and Barcelona are also keeping tabs on his work at Como, and he has been tipped to return to one of his former clubs when he decides to leave the Serie A outfit.
Fabregas remains happy at Como and isn’t pushing to leave, having rejected several approaches over the past 12 months, but his current contract reportedly includes a clause that would allow him to join the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona or Chelsea.

“Fabregas will leave only Como for a super top club like Barcelona or Arsenal, but they've renewed the contract of [Hansi] Flick and Arsenal are obviously happy with [Mikel] Arteta,” Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio explained (via Football.London).
“I don't see him going to the first top club that needs him. He's like a calculator. He knows that he will coach one of these top clubs. He's not in a hurry because, even last year, he said no to Inter, no to AS Roma, he said no to Bayer Leverkusen, and also Como didn't want to let him go.
“He had an exit clause for top clubs like Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona, so it depends on which of these clubs will begin to struggle. Everything can change.”
Meanwhile, Como club president Mirwan Suwarso has confirmed that he will not stand in Fabregas’ way if the Spaniard wants to return to Chelsea in a managerial capacity.
“If that makes him happy, that’s him,” he told City AM over the summer. “You want your employees to stay with you for as long as possible but at the end of the day we don’t own him and he’s free to go to Chelsea if he wishes.”
