Brighton ‘delighted’ to secure double signing as several others depart

Brighton have completed the double signing of Femi Azeez and Chema Andres in a busy end to the transfer window.

The Seagulls have confirmed the arrival of Nigerian international winger Azeez from Millwall on a four-year contract for an undisclosed fee.

The two clubs submitted a deal sheet ahead of Monday night’s 11pm deadline, allowing the transfer to be completed during an extended period, with the move finalised before the 1am deadline.

Azeez arrives after an impressive campaign with Millwall, having played a key role as the Lions reached the Championship play-offs.

Brighton sporting director Mike Cave said: “We are delighted to add Femi to the squad. He arrives off the back of an excellent season with Millwall, having played a key role for them as they finished in the play-offs.

“He was one of the most exciting attacking talents in the Championship, and we’re delighted to have finally agreed his transfer, and we are now looking forward to working with him.”

Brighton have also completed the signing of midfielder Chema Andres from VfB Stuttgart on a five-year deal.

The 21-year-old came through the youth ranks at Real Madrid before spending last season in the Bundesliga with Stuttgart.

Cave added: “We’re delighted to welcome Chema to the club. He has an excellent pedigree, having come through at Real Madrid, and he followed that with a very good season with Stuttgart last season.

“We had been aware of Chema’s potential for some time, and we are delighted to welcome him to the club and look forward to working with him.”

Meanwhile, Kamari Doyle has departed the AMEX on loan to join Leicester City, Mark O’Mahony also heading to League One on loan, joining Burton Albion.

Amario Cozier-Duberry has agreed a new contract and will spend the season on loan with Middlesbrough, while Igor Julio has completed a permanent transfer to Burnley.
