Bayern Munich eyeing Harry Kane successor Karl-Heinz Rummenigge branded Newcastle 'idiots' for signing
When it comes to spending big money, it's hard to find a better big-money transfer than Bayern Munich's €90 million purchase of Harry Kane. The Englishman has been prolific since his arrival in 2023 and could be on the precipice of bringing the Ballon d'Or to the Allianz Arena. However, all that being said, Kane isn't getting any younger, despite still being at the top of his game at 33-years-old, father time will catch up to him as it does with every player, and Bayern need to position themselves to make sure they get a proper replacement once Kane's time at the club does come to an end.
Bayern always seems to be a club linked with some of the best strikers in the world, and they have recently added a new name to their list, one they know very well from some not-so-friendly comments.
As being reported by GOAL.com, Bayern Munich are keeping an eye on Newcastle United striker Nick Woltemade during his loan spell at Juventus this season, as they continue to plan for what life without Harry Kane will look like in a few year's time. Woltemade joins Erling Haaland as one of the two candidates the club is considering at the moment, but that list will surely grow as time goes on.
After all that has been said, Bayern Munich are back in for Woltemade
Bayern were linked with a possible move for the German last summer before pulling out due to Stuttgart's high asking price, with Woltemade ultimately ending up signing for Newcastle United for a fee of €75 million. Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge famously laughed at the fee paid by the English club, branding them idiots for paying such a high fee:

Woltemade's time in England didn't really live up to the high transfer fee, where he grabbed just 11 goals and five assists in 51 appearances for Newcastle, and will spend this season on loan at Juventus, a sign that Newcastle may have overpaid for the striker. He's grabbed one goal and one assist through six games so far this season, and while those aren't jaw-dropping numbers, it's still early days, and a change of scenery could be what is needed to get the best out of Woltemade once again.
After Rummenigge's famous comments, it's interesting that Bayern are now considering the player once again, when clearly at a time they didn't see a point in signing him. How exactly things will play out when it comes to any future transfer is still somewhat unknown, as who's to say Woltemade wouldn't turn down the move should he be somewhat spiteful over the past comments.
In any case, a move for Woltemade in the future most likely wouldn't cost as much as the €75 million Newcastle paid, which could make a move more appealing to Bayern this time around. Harry Kane is looking likely to sign a two-year extension, so Bayern still have some time before they make their final decision when it comes to who they bring in to succeed the English icon.
