Aston Villa Target Ruben Loftus-Cheek as Kamara Injury Forces January Transfer Move

Aston Villa have turned their attention to AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek as they seek to sign cover for Boubacar Kamara, reports The Telegraph.
Kamara was forced off early on in Villa’s 2-1 FA Cup third round win at Tottenham earlier this month.
And scans have revealed that the Frenchman suffered a serious knee injury, his second since moving to Villa Park from Marseille in 2022, the most recent of which rules him out for the rest of the season.
The 26-year-old’s absence is a huge blow for the Villans, who find themselves seven points off Premier League leaders Arsenal in the title race.
Kamara absence prompts Loftus-Cheek move
Kamara is a key player for Unai Emery’s side and his spell on the sidelines will force Villa to dip into the January market.
As such, Loftus-Cheek has emerged as a potential target for the Midlands side as Villa consider their options.
The England international has started just eight league games for AC Milan this season, and with a lack of European competition, the 29-year-old will struggle for minutes in the second half of the campaign.
Loftus-Cheek moved to the Serie A side from Chelsea in 2023 following loan spells with Crystal Palace and Fulham.
Ex-Villa man Luiz a potential target
Former Villa midfielder Douglas Luiz has also emerged as a potential option for Emery’s side as they seek to add another midfielder.
The Brazilian left Villa Park for Juventus in 2024, and returned to the Premier League with Nottingham Forest last summer.
However, Luiz has struggled to secure a regular spot in the Forest XI under Sean Dyche, leading to rumours he could leave the City Ground this month and potentially return to Villa Park.
Villa have endured a drop in form in recent weeks having won only two of their last five games in all competitions.
The Villans could book their spot in the knockout stages of the Europa League with a win at Turkish side Fenerbahce this evening.
