Mikel Arteta insisted that he is happy with his squad, despite being active in the transfer window this summer.

Arsenal have already brought in Christos Tzolis and Bruno Guimaraes this summer, but have missed out on major targets, including Vinicius Jr and Morgan Rogers.

“I’m really happy with the squad,” Arteta explained “I’m happy with the players that I have and I’m really happy with the ambition of the club. There’s zero question about that and we have shown that in a manner that we have tried to act, but I think we need to do it in our own way.

“We have super strength and we have other areas that we need to be very conscious because we don’t have the elements or the structure that other clubs have so we need to do it our way, we’re always on it that way and we will do what we believe is the right thing to do, to have the best possibility to compete in every competition, that’s for sure.”

Arteta’s contract with Arsenal runs out at the end of this season and the Spaniard was asked whether he is likely to have his future cleared up before the beginning of the season.

“I don’t have to worry about any of that because I want to be here,” he answered. “I’m extremely happy, I feel very grateful to work with the people that I work with and whenever we have the possibility, we will resolve that.

“There’s always another priority, I think and that’s the way we’ve been treating it, because everybody feels comfortable that the time on the contract is not going to be an issue.

“Because my will is to be here and I’m very happy here and my feeling from the club is the same one, so I think that’s why everybody is doing things in a really organic way.”
