Arteta hopeful Arsenal star could feature against Aston Villa
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta says Bruno Guimaraes is potentially available for Monday’s clash with Aston Villa after stepping up his recovery in recent days.
Guimaraes has been managed carefully as he works his way back to full fitness, with Arteta hopeful the midfielder can be ready to be selected after missing out against Coventry last week.
“We just managed the last few days with him, he’s out on the pitch, he’s been doing training sessions,” Arteta said.
“But we need to manage a lot to get to Monday in the best possible condition to be able to get selected.
“Yes, potentially available.”
Arteta also provided a positive update on Jurrien Timber, who is continuing his rehabilitation.
“Jurrien is progressing really well,” Arteta said.
“Let’s see how he ends up this week. It’s the third week in a row that he’s been outside and we have increased his load.
“So he’s in the right trajectory.
“If everything goes well, I think next week we’re going to step it up again.”
