Arsenal youngster’s exit confirmed, as work continues on more deals
Arsenal youngster Ethan Nwaneri has joined Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan deal, the club have confirmed.
Nwaneri remains the youngest player to ever feature in the Premier League, after making his debut aged 15. He enjoyed a breakthrough 2024/25 campaign, making 37 appearances in all competitions, but has struggled for game time since then.
The 19-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Marseille. He will now continue his development in the Bundesliga, before returning to the Emirates next summer.
He becomes Arsenal’s third departure this deadline day. Earlier today both Gabriel Jesus and Fabio Vieira completed permanent transfers away from the club, to Barcelona and Hamburg respectively.
Gabriel Martinelli is also closing in on an exit, with Al Hilal expected to sign the winger for around £60m. That deal does not have to be completed tonight though, as the Saudi Pro League’s transfer window remains open until Sunday.
Following the Gunners’ victory over Aston Villa last night, the Arsenal boss insisted that they will be in the market for signings this deadline day.
“As I said, we are trying to improve the squad and until tomorrow night, we’re going to try to do that,” Mikel Arteta commented yesterday.
“I’ve been disconnected from the world for 24 hours because I think my energy and focus has to be on the match. I will get back on it now.”
However, as of yet, nothing has materialised in the way of incomings. A blockbuster move for Julian Alvarez is growing increasingly unlikely as the deadline draws closer.
