Arsenal plot late-window swoop for high-profile forward with Álvarez and Yıldız on radar amid flexible plan
Arsenal are assessing the transfer market and waiting to see if a deal can be done for a high-profile forward.
The North Londoners want to add to their frontline before the closure of the transfer window, and are assessing all options.
Mikel Arteta has signed Christos Tzolis from Club Brugge, with the winger impressive on debut against Manchester City in the Community Shield, but remains eager to add another option.
Arsenal's focus is on a left-winger, though the Premier League champions are prepared to be flexible if the right player becomes available at centre-forward.
According to The Athletic, Arsenal are closely monitoring the situations of Julian Alvarez and Kenan Yildiz, with both players long-term targets.
Alvarez has expressed his desire to leave Atletico Madrid this summer, amid strong interest from Barcelona. In June, Alvarez went public with his interest in an exit.
"I don't think it's the right moment to talk, but I also don't want to hide," Álvarez told ESPN's Martin Arevalo.
"I try to be an honest person. I spoke with the people at [Atlético] who I needed to speak with. I think the best thing for everyone is a transfer. I want to fulfil my dream."
The Argentina international's priority is a move to the Camp Nou, though Atletico have insisted he is not for sale at any price. Arsenal, having been prepared to spend big to land Vinicius Junior earlier this summer, are eyeing an opportunity to make their move.
Yildiz is another player who has been a long-standing target, and would address Arteta's desire to upgrade the left side of his attack.
The Turkey international scored 10 goals and added six assists in Serie A for Juventus last season, and had been deemed untouchable by the Italian side.
However, Juventus' failure to secure Champions League qualification could prompt a change in stance if an offer arrives that is too good to refuse.
