Arsenal are monitoring Newcastle full-back Tino Livramento with a view to a summer move for the England international, according to The Sun.
Livramento has established himself as one of the most consistent full-backs in the Premier League in recent seasons, and his form in a Newcastle shirt has caught the eye of the league leaders.
The Gunners sit six points clear of second-placed Manchester City following the festive period as they seek a first Premier League title in over 20 years.
Newcastle will demand hefty fee for Livramento
However, Livramento, who is tipped to make the England squad for the 2026 World Cup, is one of Newcastle’s prized assets, and the Magpies would demand a hefty fee to consider cashing in on the 23-year-old.
A £60m asking price was touted last summer, though interested parties would feel they can negotiate a lower fee as Livramento approaches the final 24 months of his contract.
Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is already well stocked at full-back, but with Jurrien Timber and Ben White both struggling due to injuries in recent seasons, Arsenal are considering investing in defence at the end of the season.
Livramento’s versatility is also an appealing trait for Arteta, with the defender just as capable at right-back as he is at left-back.
City also monitoring Newcastle star
Additionally, Arsenal aren’t the only side interested in Livramento, with City also keeping tabs on the former Southampton man.
The Cityzens are expected to prioritise the defence at the end of the season as they weigh up a revamp at the back.
City to prioritise right-back in the summer
Right-back is expected to be a priority position for investment for Pep Guardiola’s side, who have relied on midfielder-by-trade Matheus Nunes to operate in defence in recent months.
Nunes hasn’t exactly faltered in the role but would prefer to move back to his natural midfield position, while City are hoping to bring in a better fit at right-back.
Livramento isn’t the only target for City, with reports on Friday suggesting that Brentford’s Michael Kayode is another option for the title-chasing Manchester powerhouse.
