Arsenal have agreed a deal to sign Bruno Guimaraes from Newcastle United for £75million, reports insider Fabrizio Romano.

The Gunners have had the Brazilian midfielder high on their radar for the majority of the summer. He has been one of their top options, along with Julian Alvarez and Morgan Rogers - the latter instead moved to Chelsea.

But it has seemed for Guimaraes, the only thing stopping the deal has been agreeing terms with Newcastle.

As insider Romano states, personal terms have been in place with the midfielder since July, but the Magpies stood firm on their demands.

Earlier this week, Arsenal had a £70million bid turned down by Newcastle.

But now, the fee has been agreed, with Romano and a number of other outlets stating Arsenal have agreed a deal worth £75million for Guimaraes.

It brings to an end a long period of talks in which the North East outfit were refusing to budge.

Newcastle won't pocket entire fee

Part of the reason Newcastle were so adamant about getting a higher fee for Guimaraes, beyond the fact he's one of their best players and they've already lost Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali this summer, is that they won't be pocketing his entire transfer fee.

When he was signed from Lyon in 2022, the French club inserted a clause which entitles them to 20 per cent of the original signing fee of around £35million, meaning they'll scoop around £7million.

The Magpies will still receive a large chunk of money for a man they signed for far less than they are selling for, but they are losing perhaps their best player in the PIF era.

But Guimaraes was keen to leave Newcastle once he became aware of interest from Arsenal, and his willingness to agree to personal terms a good way prior to the club-to-club agreement highlighted that.

While he did return to pre-season training with the Magpies, Guimaraes soon left as the transfer to the Gunners progressed, and he'll join up with his new club now, ahead of their Premier League title defence.
