Premier League teenagers are within touching distance of history. Teenage players have produced 56 goals and assists in the Premier League this season, just two short of the 58 recorded in 2006/07.
The charge has been led by Eli Junior Kroupi, who has set the pace for this season’s teenagers. The Bournemouth forward is the leading teenage scorer in the division with 12 goals, and also leads all teenagers for combined goals and assists with 12.
Bournemouth have been central to the story. Rayan is second among Premier League teenagers for direct goal contributions this season, with five goals and two assists. That gives him seven goal contributions, behind only Kroupi.
In the assists category, Lewis Miley leads the teenage group. The Newcastle midfielder has provided four assists, alongside one goal, giving him five goal contributions in total. (StatMuse)
Those three names frame the season clearly: Kroupi for goals, Miley for assists, and Kroupi again for overall output.
The benchmark remains 2006/07.
That season’s teenage class hit 58 goals and assists, with two players at the front of the group. Gabby Agbonlahor was the leading teenage scorer, finishing with nine goals for Aston Villa. He also added four assists, taking him to 13 goal contributions.
Cesc Fàbregas matched that overall total for Arsenal. The midfielder scored two goals and supplied 11 assists, making him the leading teenage creator in the 2006/07 Premier League season.
Fàbregas and Agbonlahor therefore shared top spot for teenage goal contributions in 2006/07, with 13 each. Agbonlahor led the goals category, while Fàbregas led the assists category.
This season is different. The record push has been powered by a wider group, but the headline figure is still Kroupi. His 12-goal haul has put the current teenage class on the edge of a mark that has stood for nearly two decades.
Two more goal contributions would bring them level with 2006/07. Three would make this the most productive Premier League season ever for teenagers.
