A historic figure on his debut

England international star Morgan Rogers did not wait long to present his credentials to the fans of his new club Chelsea, playing a major part in securing the first win for manager Xabi Alonso's side in the new 2026-27 Premier League season.

Chelsea beat Fulham 3-2 away from home on Monday evening, in the opening game of both sides' Premier League campaign.

Rogers wasted no time. Signed from Aston Villa during the ongoing summer window, he grabbed his first official goal for the London club in the 41st minute to stretch the visitors' lead, before Cole Palmer added a third.

According to Opta, Rogers became the first player in Chelsea's history since the 2003-2004 season to create five goalscoring chances on his Premier League debut for the club.

His brilliance did not stop there. CBS Sports confirmed that Rogers created more chances than any other player during the opening round of the Premier League, thrusting himself to the forefront from the very start of his Chelsea journey.

The deal cost Chelsea's coffers 117 million euros (138 million euros), according to several English reports, making it the second most expensive transfer in the Premier League behind Alexander Isak, who joined Liverpool last summer from Newcastle for 125 million pounds sterling.
