Kane lifted trophy curse after leaving Tottenham
Kane became Spurs’ all-time leading scorer when finding the target on 280 occasions across his spell in north London. A move to Germany was made as major silverware continued to fall agonisingly out of reach. That fabled silverware curse has been lifted at the Allianz Arena.

Will Kane return to the Premier League & chase down Shearer?
A fresh start may be sought at that stage, with Heskey telling GOAL - while speaking in association with Premier League betting site BetWright - when asked if Kane can compete at the highest level with Bayern for another couple of seasons: “I think so. I think so, and then come back to the Prem and beat Shearer!
“Honestly, if he came back to the Prem, there's no reason why he can't be scoring 20-plus goals a season. The amount of chances he gets and his shooting hasn't gone away. You think when you get older you might not be as sharp, but he still manages to hit that target. He still manages to create the chances.
“At 35 you still see players. How old's Danny Welbeck? You've got Luka Modric playing until 41. Why not? And even if he doesn't play regular, that's still 10-15 goals. Would it be as a starter? Probably not.
“I always say there might be one or two places for a senior player. I had senior players when I was playing. [Martin] Keown, [Gareth] Southgate were a couple. For me as a young lad going to a tournament, sometimes you can be in awe of all the players around you, but they bring you in, help you, make sure you're toeing the line as well when you need to. You need them senior players around. If you don't, it can be tough at times.”
Kane has 213 Premier League goals to his name, leaving him 47 adrift of Blackburn and Newcastle legend Shearer. He has said of discussions regarding his future in Munich: “We'll talk this week and next week. We'll just have an open discussion. We're not in a hurry or panicking. My full focus is on Bayern Munich and the upcoming season. The talks will take place behind the scenes. You'll hear about it when there's something to announce.”
Prolific Kane tipped to top Ballon d'Or vote in 2026
Kane plundered 61 goals for Bayern last season - a personal-best return - and has reached 146 efforts for the German giants in total through 148 games. With remarkable individual standards being maintained, he is considered to be leading contender for Ballon d’Or honours in 2026.
Asked if the title of ‘best player on the planet’ should be bestowed upon Kane this year, ex-England forward Heskey added: “I think from what he's achieved, your name has got to be in the hat. We've seen people we believe should have won it, and they weren't even nominated, i.e. Mo Salah at times. But yeah, I think he should be the one picking that up.”
Kane's future: Bundesliga, Premier League & MLS?
No English player has won the Ballon d’Or since former Liverpool and Real Madrid striker Michael Owen in 2001. A barren run that has lasted a quarter of a century could soon be brought to a close.
Kane would be a deserving recipient of the prestigious Golden Ball, given all that he has achieved, and there remains a chance that he could grace the Premier League again before potentially ending his career in MLS - with an NFL dream to be chased in the United States.
