African star spotted at Liverpool training centre

Liverpool now only have six days to sort out a team that Andoni Iraola is happy with.

The Spaniard was the Reds' first-choice to replace Arne Slot after a rather abysmal 2025-26 season.

Most people expected his heavy metal style of football to instantly get results out of the Reds' squad but, after their 2-2 draw against Newcastle on Sunday, it's clear that some changes still need to be made.

Many players have been linked with a switch but, now that there's less than a week left of the window, for some deals, it feels like it's now or never for them to get over the line.

Having less than a week may not seem like a lot of time but, if Richard Hughes and Iraola put the work in, another one or two players could easily be welcomed.

And now, one African star has already been spotted at the Reds' training centre.

Musa Jatta Bajaha has been seen at Liverpool's training centre

Liverpool's academy is one of the main things that makes the Reds who they are.

They've had numerous world-class talents come from their academy who have gone on to have incredible careers.

At the moment, Trey Nyoni and Rio Ngumoha seem to be the best prospects among their youth ranks with both of them expected to play important roles for Iraola this term.

However, with many of the other Premier League teams academies also strengthening their ranks, it's only right that the Reds do the same.

That's why it's hardly surprising to see Gambian midfielder Musa Jatta Bajaha on trial at Anfield.

The Gambian midfielder shared a post of himself next to Dominik Szoboszlai's locker on his Instagram story with Liverpool looking to see whether he's good enough for them to welcome to L4.

Liverpool need to plan ahead for their future

As mentioned, Liverpool's academy has always been seen as one of the best in England, if not the world.

Many of their first-team squad have often come from their academy with Steven Gerrard obviously the most famous of the lot.

However, thanks to Slot not wanting to promote any youngsters to his starting XI, it feels like things have gone a bit backwards with Liverpool now looking to buy players to plug the gaps that they have among their ranks.

Of course, this can work if you have an endless money pit or have many players that you can sell but, because the Reds' squad is already thin as it is, they can't really afford to move anyone on.

That's why signing players such as Nyoni, Ngumoha, Ifeanyi Ndukwe and Samuel Martinez is key for their future.

This way, they can easily prepare their youngsters to come into their first-team squad and replace veterans who end up leaving.

Here's hoping that Bajaha's trial goes well as, one thing that the Reds really need at the moment is midfielders.
