€25m maestro jets out, his Liverpool exit is close

Liverpool are now entering their final few hours of the 2026-27 summer transfer window.

Andoni Iraola has welcomed four new players through the Anfield doors already but, if the Reds are wanting to try and add some more silverware to their trophy cabinet, they could still do with adding another signing or two to their ranks.

However, in order for them to do this, it does feel like some of their first-team squad will need to be sacrificed.

But, with how minimal the depth among their ranks already is, there are only a couple of players who can really be axed.

And, now that Curtis Jones has gone, the Reds' homegrown options are becoming weaker which could end up causing major problems this season.

That thought process hasn't stopped players from exiting though with one of Liverpool's players now spotted on his way to his new club.

Harvey Elliott has been interviewed in Valencia

One of the many players that Liverpool's fans expected to have a rebirth under Iraola was Harvey Elliott.

The last couple of years have been tough for the Englishman with his season-long loan move to Aston Villa falling massively short of his expectations.

Most people thought that when his switch to Villa Park was confirmed that it would mean the end of his time at Liverpool.

However, since Unai Emery didn't really rate him, he only played nine games all season.

This led to fans wondering whether Elliott would make a come back at Anfield and, when Iraola was appointed as Arne Slot's successor, some were even excited about the potential rebirth the midfielder was going to go through.

But now, thanks to an update from Nacho Sanchis, that is clearly not the case with the 23-year-old now spotted taking interviews in Spain.

"HARVEY ELLIOT IS ALREADY IN VALENCIA," he shared via X.

"The Liverpool player lands.

"On loan, without a buy option, without a fee for the loan, with VCF covering 85% of the wages."

Harvey Elliott could still return to Liverpool next season

Even though most outlets believed that Elliott's contract with Liverpool only ran until 2027, some reports emerged on Monday which stated that it actually runs until 2028.

The midfielder is still only 23 years old so, when he returns from his season in La Liga, there will still be an awful lot of his career left to go.

Indeed, the fact that his best position is arguably as a number 10 is a bit of a problem as, with the Reds' recent signings such as Florian Wirtz and even Bradley Barcola, there are already so many people fighting for that place in Iraola's starting XI.

But, if Elliott manages to get back to his best and perhaps repeat his performances from the Under-21 Euros last summer, he could definitely be an asset to Liverpool.

Indeed, his inability to prove his worth this season is a bit of a worry but, for now, it feels like this move to Valencia could be the best thing for him.
