Which player has scored the most international goals? Kane can keep climbing list

It’s been three-and-a-half years since Harry Kane overtook Wayne Rooney to become England’s all-time leading goalscorer.
And the Three Lions captain shows no signs of slowing down as he continues to find the net at a prolific rate.
Kane sits on 85 goals ahead of England’s Nations League clash with world champions Spain at Wembley on Saturday – and he’s poised to keep climbing the list of international scorers…
Where does Kane rank among the all-time leading international goalscorers?
With six goals at this summer’s World Cup, Kane moved into the top 10 international scorers of all time.
He currently ranks joint eighth on the list, alongside the UAE’s Ali Mabkhout (85 international goals between 2009 and 2023).
And it’s quite possible that Kane will catch at least one of the two players in joint seventh on 89 goals during this extra-long international break, in which England play four games.
One of them, Poland icon Robert Lewandowski, is still active, but Kane can definitely draw level with the other, Mokhtar Dahari, who scored his last goal for Malaysia in 1985.
Who has scored the most international goals?
Cristiano Ronaldo is way out in front as the record goalscorer in international football, netting a whopping 146 times for Portugal – and counting.
Only two other players have ever passed the milestone of 100 international goals: Lionel Messi (125), who announced his retirement from Argentina duty after the World Cup, and Iran legend Ali Daei (108 international goals between 1993 and 2006) – the first to bring up a century of goals for their country.
After those three, just two more players rank above Kane for international goals: India’s Sunil Chhetri (95 international goals between 2005 and 2005) and Belgium great Romelu Lukaku, still going strong on 93 international goals.
