Youri Baas could still leave Ajax: first club show interest

Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in Youri Baas, according to Eintracht watcher Christopher Michel. The club are urgently looking to strengthen their defence.

Adi Hütter currently has only four fit centre-backs at his disposal at Eintracht Frankfurt, and two of them are still too young to start. Belgium international Arthur Theate will probably still be sold.

That has pushed the club into the market for defensive reinforcements. In the final week of the transfer window, Eintracht definitely want to sign a defender and Baas is high on their list.

The Ajax player appeals because he can play both at left-back and in central defence.

So far this season, the 23-year-old defender has played a more modest role than he did in the previous two campaigns, when he was one of Ajax's key players.

Across Europe, coach Míchel has preferred Daley Blind every time. Baas told Voetbal International that he is not happy with his current situation in Amsterdam.

His contract in Amsterdam runs until mid-2028. According to Transfermarkt, he is worth twenty million euros.

A move to Eintracht would mean no European football, with the Bundesliga side having finished eighth last season.
