Yang was terrific against Aberdeen, now he must show that form on a regular basis

Yang was outstanding in midweek against Aberdeen and is a player who continues to develop in the Celtic team…

It was a terrific team performance that earned Celtic all three points in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park on Wednesday night, with Camilo Duran naturally earning the plaudits due to his terrific goal as well as providing an assist, but one player who also deserves his share of praise is Yang.

The South Korean winger has become something of a mainstay under Martin O’Neill, who is clearly an admirer of the 24 year old, with not only his ability on the ball, but his overall work rate, and his ability to adapt on either side of the pitch.

Yang can be effective on either wing

Left wing, or right wing, it makes no difference to the South Korean, although it has to be said that he looks more comfortable and productive on the left hand side, a position that Martin O’Neill clearly believes is his most suited role.

Yang who was minutes away from leaving the club last year, only for a move to Birmingham City to fall through at the last moment, has excelled under the guidance of the veteran Irishman, and is currently enjoying the most productive spell of his footballing career.

The only concerns regarding the attacker is his ability to produce the goods on a regular basis, something that’s been holding him back from fully excelling in a Celtic shirt, hence the doubts from the Celtic supporters.

For all his ability and his outstanding work-rate (modelled on Daizen Maeda), the South Korean international can blow hot and cold, which is a major source of frustration to the Celtic supporters, and undoubtedly his manager Martin O’Neill.

The target now for Yang, is to show that form consistently, and to produce the goods week in week out in a bid to win over the supporters.

If he does just that, then the South Korean will earn the accolade of the entire Celtic support. Indeed he’s well on the road to doing just that.
