Xabi Alonso has given an update on the fitness of his four injured first team players in his press conference today.

Xabi Alonso’s press conference today covered a few important topics, but nothing was bigger than getting an update on the injured Moises Caicedo. The manager confirmed he won’t be ready for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Hull City.

“Not yet. We’ll see for Brentford. We’re not at a moment to take risks with him. Not yet, not yet.”

If it does come down to the wire for the Brentford game, we’d imagine the club would err on the side of caution. There is a long international break to follow that, and that would basically give him a month from today to get fully fit. That must be tempting for Chelsea to take advantage of.

Chelsea still waiting to see three new arrivals in action

He also had more information on the other injured trio who are currently missing: Jordan Henderson, Emmanuel Emegha, and Marco Palestra. His initial answer was pretty straightforward: “no, no, no.” But he then added a little more detail:

“Not tomorrow. We hope they can be for Brentford, but we’ll see.”

Unlike with Caicedo, there is no need to rush any of this trio of new signings back. We’re doing just fine without them.
