Why is Taty Castellanos so angry?
Taty Castellanos' body language this season has invited plenty of outside doubt. The yellow cards (vs.Burnley and Charlton) have looked rash, the missed penalty against Charlton landed at the worst possible moment, and there have been visible flashes of frustration that, from the outside, have been read by some supporters as a player already looking for the exit. According to a source with knowledge of the striker's mindset, that read couldn't be further from the truth, and with the transfer window closing on Tuesday, Castellanos isn't going anywhere.
In January, when Castellanos left Lazio for a West Ham side fighting for its Premier League life hed did so understanding the challenge. "He is angry," the source said. "He took on a responsibility last season when he came to West Ham in January. His goal was to help this club stay up." Despite his efforts, West Ham went down anyway, and by the source's account, that failure has stayed with him far more than any outsider might assume.
Before coming to West Ham, he won the MLS Cup and Golden Boot with New York City FC in 2021, inspiring a title-winning side.
