War in the stands: Portugal's fans back Jesus against Ronaldo
Thrilling events
The ongoing crisis between Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo, the Al-Nassr captain, and his coach Jorge Jesus has sparked a war in the stands of the national team during the clash with Denmark in the UEFA Nations League.
Portugal beat Denmark 4-2 on Thursday at the Parken Stadium in the Danish capital, Copenhagen, in the third round of the group stage.
This was Portugal's first match since the recent crisis erupted between Ronaldo and Jesus, which prompted the "Madeira Rocket" to leave the national team's camp in Copenhagen on Wednesday evening.
One shot published by the "Bleacher Report" network showed Portugal fans with the words "We love you Jesus" written in English across the shirts they wore, backing the coach.
Other fans had the final word. They held up a message bearing Ronaldo's name alongside a heart symbol, a clear sign of their support for him.
Jesus has got Portugal flying in the Nations League. Nine points from three wins over Wales, Norway and Denmark, and not a single slip under his leadership.
Next up is Norway on Sunday in the fourth round, and a win would send Jesus's men straight through to the semi-finals without waiting for the final two rounds.
Only after that Norway match will Jesus reveal exactly what happened between him and Ronaldo, as he hinted before the Denmark game.
