Vivien Endemann admitted 'it wasn't the best game' in 4-0 Charlton rout
Vivien Endemann is already looking ahead to see how far Liverpool Women can go this season, with the German forward firmly believing that a statement opening weekend 4-0 win has set the tone for an exciting campaign.
The 25-year-old German winger enjoyed a dream competitive debut for her new club on Sunday, lighting up the pitch away against Charlton Athletic with an all-action display that provided both a goal and an assist.
Her stellar performance on the flank earned her the official player of the match award, underlining precisely why the management moved to secure her signature.
The newcomer's impact was part of a dominant collective showing that underlined Liverpool's credentials under the guidance of head coach Gareth Taylor.
The team clicked into gear early, taking control of the contest as captain Grace Fisk led by example with a commanding brace. Fisk opened the scoring inside the opening ten minutes before doubling her tally after the break.
Endemann then capped her stellar afternoon by finding the back of the net, reacting quickest to a bouncing ball in the area to lash an unstoppable effort into the roof of the net. Substitute Cornelia Kapocs added a fourth late on, coolly converting from the penalty spot after Natalia Alvarez was brought down inside the area to wrap up a comprehensive 4–0 victory.
The resounding win provides the perfect launchpad for a season of transition and renewed ambition under Taylor. Having injected fresh dynamism into the squad during the transfer window, the Merseyside outfit looks sharper, more cohesive, and structurally equipped to challenge higher up the Women's Super League table.
"It feels very, very good," Endemann reflected. "We had a clean sheet, and we scored four goals and win the first game. I'm very happy.
"I think we kept going. It wasn't the best game, especially in the first half. But we just kept going - we were quite aggressive in the pressing and scored goals."
Throughout the entire match Endemann was Liverpool’s most dangerous asset. Charlton left-back Ellie Mason had a game she would likely want to forget as time and time again the German winger got the better of her. She was quick, direct and more than deserving of her debut goal.
With momentum behind both her and the team, the 25-year-old is eager to take that into Liverpool's first home match at St Helens against Tottenham takes place on Sunday 13th September at 2pm.
"I think it's very important because last season they had a really tough season,” she added.
"Now to start with a win it's very important for us. We want to keep going and win the next game."
