Viewers suddenly go completely wild about Dusan Tadic in the 22nd minute
Dusan Tadic has come in for heavy criticism on social media during Willem II v NEC. The 37-year-old forward for the Nijmegen side made little impact in a difficult first half and is taking most of the flak for an incident in the 22nd minute.
NEC struggled from the start and for long spells could barely trouble Willem II's defence. The home side produced the first danger in the fifth minute with a quick break, while NEC did not register their first shot until the 35th minute, when Adam Tahaui fired straight at goalkeeper Karst de Leeuw.
In attack, Tadic also found it hard to impose himself during the first half. One viewer was irritated by a moment when, in his view, the Serb waited too long before shooting himself: "Tadic really needs to learn to shoot earlier himself."
Most of the attention, though, centres on an incident in the 23rd minute when Tadic went to ground after minimal contact and loudly appealed for a penalty. On X, many viewers are convinced there was barely anything in it. "A yellow card for Tadic would have been appropriate here. He misses the ball completely and then just turns it into a dive," Arthur writes.
Elsewhere, viewers also feel the forward should have been punished. "It's incomprehensible that Tadic doesn't get a yellow card for extremely bad acting. What a disgraceful dive," reads one reaction, while another writes: "You should simply give Tadic a yellow for this. A ridiculously bad dive."
For others, the display by the former Ajax forward is bringing back old irritations. "Tadic hasn't unlearned it yet. Twenty minutes played and already three dying swan acts," it says, while someone else writes cynically: "Disgraceful foul on Tadic!"
Nor is the criticism limited to the penalty incident. "Hello NEC, would you please stamp out those 'world star' mannerisms of Tadic very quickly?" one viewer wonders, while another says: "Tadic is the laughing stock of the day. What a dive, you should have given a yellow for that. What a clown."
