Video: Trezeguet cuts the ribbon on his goals in the Saudi league

Egyptian star Mahmoud Hassan Trezeguet opened his goalscoring account with his new club Al-Riyadh on Tuesday, against Al-Shabab, in the third round of the 2026-2027 Saudi Pro League.

Al-Riyadh and Al-Shabab shared the points in a 3-3 thriller. Trezeguet's side finished the game with ten men after Kader Keita saw red in the 61st minute.

Trezeguet broke the deadlock in the 32nd minute. The ball dropped to him inside the box and he lashed a powerful strike to the left of the Al-Shabab goalkeeper, finding the net. He capped his display with an assist for another goal.

Trezeguet spoke after the match about feeling at home in the Kingdom, describing it as his second home. He insisted the Roshn League ranks among the best in the world right now, not just in the Middle East, drawing on his experience in Turkey, Belgium and England, as he put it.

Thmanyah correspondent Khaled Al-Arafa asked whether Al-Riyadh could maintain such a strong level all season. He replied: "The team has an outstanding manager, and the club provides all the necessary resources to deliver the best possible level. We will go step by step, and hopefully we will meet at the end of the season with Al-Riyadh in the place it deserves."

Al-Riyadh sit 16th with a single point from three matches in the Saudi Roshn Pro League: the draw against Al-Shabab and two defeats, 4-2 to Al-Ettifaq and 4-0 to Al-Nassr. They did reach the round of 16 of the King's Cup, seeing off Al-Zulfi 2-0.
