Video: En-Nesyri settles it: Al-Ittihad break Al-Fayha's resistance

The Al-Ahly continues with a boost from the Al-Nassr clasico

Al-Ittihad edged their guests Al-Fayha 2-1 in the sixth round of the Saudi Pro League on Tuesday evening. It was a second straight win, following the 2-1 defeat of rivals Al-Nassr in the previous round.

The victory took Al-Ittihad up to 14 points in third place, one point behind both leaders Al-Hilal and runners-up Al-Qadsiah. Al-Fayha, meanwhile, stayed frozen on 5 points in eleventh.

Attacking start

Al-Ittihad started on the front foot, and George Ilenikhena almost broke the deadlock in the tenth minute, only for Orlando Mosquera to deny him.

Al-Feiha hit back through Alfa Semedo in the 11th minute. Then, in the 35th, Mohammed Al-Absi produced a fine save to keep out Hussein Belahrach.

Ilenikhena made the breakthrough in the 43rd minute, nodding Al-Ittihad in front from close range.

Al-Feiha levelled right on the stroke of half-time. Jason Remeseiro finished in the fourth minute of stoppage time, latching onto a cross from Ahmed Bamsaud.

En-Nesyri settles it for Al-Ittihad

Al-Ittihad made a change at the start of the second half, sending on Marwan Al-Sahafi for Steven Bergwijn as they kept pressing for a go-ahead goal.

The lead almost came in the 62nd minute. Dion Lopy rattled the crossbar, and Al-Sahafi spurned the rebound moments later.

Three minutes on, the referee pointed to the spot. A handball on Jason inside the box, confirmed by VAR, handed Al-Ittihad their chance, and Youssef En-Nesyri stepped up to bury it in the 68th minute for a 2-1 lead.

Al-Feiha threw everything forward in the closing stages. Fashion Sakala forced a save from Mohammed Al-Absi in the 77th minute, before Hugo Mora fired over the bar in the 85th.

Both sides shuffled their packs late on, but nothing changed on the scoreboard. Al-Ittihad saw out their lead to the final whistle.
