The latest round of Championship action served as the first of four matchdays to be played over the course of two weeks. That two-week run of action will lead directly into the first international break of the campaign, only raising the stakes for the American players in the Championship.

That said, their respective clubs enjoyed a solid weekend in the Championship. I've detailed each of the games involved below, with specific attention to the involvement of USMNT/USYNT players.

Jack McGlynn makes Stoke City debut, Bombino stays on bench in 4-0 win over Charlton

After signing for Stoke City from Houston Dynamo earlier in the week, midfielder Jack McGlynn came on as a substitute in the 57th minute of Stoke City's 4-0 win against Charlton. He recorded one shot during the game while playing 33 total minutes.

Luca Bombino was not involved for Stoke City, who have now won two straight contests.

Caleb Wiley starts for Preston North End in win over Blackburn Rovers

After a one-goal performance against Bristol City, Caleb Wiley was included in Preston's squad for their match against Blackburn Rovers.

Though Preston won the match 2-1, Wiley could not replicate his performance against Bristol City. He played a total of 59 minutes and was unable to record a shot during that period of time.

All four Americans in action for Middlesbrough, who earn another victory

All four USMNT/USYNT players based in Middlesbrough were involved at some point during their 1-0 win against QPR. Aidan Morris, Sebastian Berhalter, and Max Arfsten all started the match, with the former playing the entire 90 minutes while recording two shots. Berhalter came off after playing 83 minutes and recording a shot, while Arfsten recorded 71 minutes of playing time. Meanwhile, Rokas Pukstas, who joined Middlesbrough from HK Hajduk Split, recorded seven minutes in his debut for the club.

George Campbell records a clean sheet as West Brom blank Watford

It's now four points in two matches for West Brom as they recorded a 1-0 win against Watford. George Campbell played the full 90 minutes for the club, helping them defend against Watford's eight shots, three of which were on target, and four corners.

What's next?

Of the Championship clubs involving USMNT/USYNT players, one will play in the third round of the EFL Cup, which takes place on September 8-9 and September 15-16. That match will see Middlesbrough take on Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.

In terms of Championship action, there will be a midweek slate that takes place alongside the third round of the EFL Cup. That matchday will see Stoke City travel to play Cardiff City, who are currently inside the relegation zone. Elsewhere, Preston will play a road game against Watford, West Brom will travel to Derby County, while Birmingham City will head to Norwich City.
