Tottenham already eyeing move for Brazilian international in January

There were again encouraging signs, but the absence of a natural goalscorer, especially given Dominic Solanke's form in 2026, looks set to put a ceiling on what the club can achieve in Roberto De Zerbi's first full season in charge.
You suspect that a goal-getter will be the club's priority this winter, with Richarlison, omitted from De Zerbi's Premier League squad, poised for a return to his homeland. However, reports from Brazil suggest Spurs could make another move for one of the country's most promising young defenders, having failed to strike a deal in the summer.

I must say, this transfer would go completely against the grain. The club committed to a Premier League exclusive transfer policy in the summer in a supposed bid to reduce risk, so signing a 19-year-old Athletico Paranaense defender would represent a diversion in strategy.
According to Ge Globo, Spurs had an £18m offer rejected for Arthur Dias in the summer, but could return with an offer in January. Athletico are believed to value the teenager at closer to £26m, with Dias' stock earning a boost after he was called up to Carlo Anclelotti's squad for Brazil's upcoming friendlies against Australia and Argentina.
Dias has played a key role in Athletico's 2026 campaign, appearing 31 times in all competitions. He's a standout ball-player who passes well off both feet, and the fact he's left-footed only adds to his value.
Some are already labelling Dias as the best centre-back in Série A, with his build-up mastery complemented by an impressive turn of pace and controlled aggression when engaging one-on-one with an opponent. On paper, he boasts a profile that seems ideal for the rigours of Premier League football, but it's almost impossible to accurately predict how a 19-year-old with limited senior experience will cope in a completely alien environment.
Plus, I just don't see Spurs entering the market for a left-footed defender in January. Marcos Senesi was signed to cover Micky van de Ven.
