The opening league bill: a double blow for Al-Nassr

Al-Nassr have suffered a double blow ahead of their next match in the Saudi Roshn League, after medical tests revealed injuries to their players Mohamed Maran and Saad Al-Nasser.

Both men will miss training to varying degrees, just as "Al-Alami" gear up to continue their title defence.

The scan showed Maran suffering a tear in his hamstring that keeps him away from training and running for a period of up to six weeks, according to the Saudi newspaper Arriyadiyah.

Al-Nasser, meanwhile, sustained a bruise to his ankle joint that will keep him out of training for a week.

He picked up the injury during Saturday's clash with Al-Fateh in the opening round of the league. Al-Nassr's Australian coach Ange Postecoglou was forced to take him off in the 18th minute after he felt pain in his ankle joint.

That rules Al-Nasser out of Friday's clash with Al-Riyadh. Maran, for his part, was hurt after coming on as a substitute for Abdullah Al-Hamdan in the 77th minute of the same match.

Preparations for the next fixture are back under way, with the players who started against Al-Diriyah going through recovery training on Wednesday.

Postecoglou is expected to begin direct technical work for the Al-Riyadh clash, which kicks off at 09:00 pm on Friday (Mecca time) at the Prince Faisal bin Fahd Sports City Stadium in Riyadh, in the second round of the Saudi Roshn League.

Al-Nassr had opened their league journey with a comfortable three-nil win over Al-Fateh. They then boosted their start by reaching the round of 16 of the King's Cup, overcoming Al-Diriyah four goals to one.
