St Mirren v Celtic – Team News, Predicted Team and Where to Watch

It’s a battle of second v first in the Scottish Premiership as current Scottish Champions and league leaders Celtic take on the Paisley Buddies on the Saturday evening kick off at the The Marbill Coaches Stadium, next to Glasgow Airport.

Martin O’Neill will be without both record signing Kasper Hogh and Kieran Tierney so the Scottish Premiership’s Player of the Month for August Camilo Duran will lead the line for the Hoops while Liam Scales will get another left-back shift under his belt on a needs must basis.

Callum Osmand also misses out are rolling his ankle last weekend against Falkirk, while Alistair Johnston is sidelined for another two months with his third hamstring issue in the past year.

Celtic will be looking for a fifth straight league victory of the season and if you add the seven wins on a bounce at the end of last season (title winning form) that will be a dozen victories in a row in the league.

The Celtic manager is likely to let Viljami Sinisalo keep the gloves for now, while the back four is set to remain the same as the midweek win over Aberdeen with Colby Donovan at right back, a central defence partnership of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Auston Trusty and of course Lim Scales at left-back.

The middle of the park will not be changed either so Callum McGregor and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will provide both quality and experience and take it in turns tp probe forward as Celtic look to win the match.

Again a forward three of Haissem Hassan on the right, Benjamin Nygren and the ten and Yang out left will cause the St Mirren defence plenty of problems.

And then there’s the outstanding Camilo Duran leading the line and looking to retain his player of the month award in September.

New Bhoys Jordan Lotomba and Joel van den Berg have both already been in action in the Netherlands this season, so will be fit and available to make their debuts.

Oliver Sorensen and Shim Mheuka both made their Celtic debuts from the bench in Wednesdays 3-0 home win over Aberdeen, and newly acquired goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was an unused substitute, with all three being available for selection yet again.

Landon Emenalo is a few weeks away from fitness due to an injury sustained at Chelsea.

Tonight will be Yang’s final match before he departs for the Asian games with South Korea, and due to his recent form it will be a major blow to Martin O’Neill to be denied the services of the winger for the upcoming double header against the Rangers, with the opening Europa League match against Ferencvaros at Celtic Park sandwiched between the two Glasgow Derby matches which will of course now be played with no away fans.

Perhaps we can expect a shuffle of the pack when we travel to Perth to take on St Johnstone on Wednesday night, as the clash with the Buddies will be seen as the more challenging encounter.
