Some interesting news on the Baur to Celtic front
Celtic will soon complete the signing of Egyptian winger Haissem Hassan, but he could soon be joined by yet another new addition in Mika Baur if reports in German are accurate…
Paderborn midfielder Mika Baur, a player who has been the subject of serious interest from Celtic, indeed the player even agreed terms with the Scottish champions a few weeks ago, only for the newly promoted Bundesliga side put the brakes on the player making the move due to Celtic not meeting their price demands.
The transfer fee the Germans are demanding is close to £7 million, whilst Celtic offered below that amount, and as the weeks dragged on, it looks as if any deal was now in jeopardy.
With talks of the player even joining on a free transfer next summer or perhaps as we suggested the morning Celtic could look to trade Reo Hatate for the German midfielder.
However, that looks unnecessary as things might be about to change – and fast.
German outlet NW Sport are reporting that Germany under-21 International Baur has MISSED training today. The same outlet are now reporting that Baur is now likely to join Celtic.
Baur was a notably absentee from Paderborn’s training preparations for the upcoming campaign, and it’s been reported that Paderborn have granted Baur time off to hold talks with the Scotland’s most successful club. They even went as far as reporting that he could even undergo a medical TODAY.
If true, it would be a welcome boost to bring aboard a new recruit to our paper thin midfield, which will soon be even lighter if and when Reo Hatate leaves the club, not forgetting the constant speculation over the future of Arne Engels.
If so, the Mika Baur saga will soon be over, and the highly rated German under 21 international could well be a Celtic player in the next day or two.
