Rangers transfer talks for Camilo Mena ‘gaining momentum’ in Poland
Rangers' interest in Lechia Gdansk winger Camilo Mena is reportedly progressing, with negotiations between the Scottish club and the Polish side said to be gaining momentum.
Mena has emerged as a potential Rangers target during the summer transfer window, with the Colombian now being closely linked with a move to Ibrox.
According to a report from Polish outlet Kanal Sportow, a transfer is “not out of the question”, with talks between Rangers and Lechia management understood to be advancing.
The latest update comes as Lechia prepare for Friday's clash with Pogon Siedlce, with Mena involved in training on Tuesday.
Mena remains an important figure at Lechia
The 23-year-old has become an increasingly important player for Lechia and has been wearing the captain's armband in recent matches.
He is regarded as one of the leaders within the squad despite the club's difficult start to the campaign.
Lechia currently sit bottom of the Polish second tier and remain without a victory this season after four matches, but Mena's performances have continued to attract attention.
His importance to the team makes the possibility of his departure particularly significant for the Polish club.
The latest report claims that Rangers' interest is genuine and that negotiations are moving forward, although there is no indication yet that an agreement has been reached.
Lechia facing squad changes
The update comes during a period of significant change at Lechia.
The club announced the signing of Ukrainian centre-back Danylo Beskorovaynyi on Tuesday, with the defender signing a contract until June 2029.
Rangers interest could develop quickly
The report suggests that developments surrounding Mena could become clearer in the coming days.
Rangers are continuing to reshape their squad under Derek McInnes, and the potential arrival of Mena would provide another attacking option after the arrival of Daisuke Yokota and the cancelled pursuit of Couhaib Driouech from PSV.
However, at present, the Colombian remains a Lechia player and is expected to be involved as the club prepare for their Friday fixture.
