Rangers agree SECOND BIGGEST transfer fee in their history as classy South Korean star says YES
Rangers are in the final stages of securing a deal for highly rated South Korean winger Min-su Kim after reaching an agreement with Girona for a transfer fee of €10million (£8.6m / $11.7m), TEAMtalk understands.
The 20-year-old attacker is expected to travel to Glasgow in the coming days to undergo a medical examination, paving the way for him to become the latest addition to Derek McInnes’s squad.
The high-profile signing will overtake Ryan Kent (£7m from Liverpool in 2019) as the second biggest transfer in Rangers’ history, though still sits some way short of the £12m fee paid to Chelsea for Tore Andre Flo all the way back in November 2000.
Sources from Spain confirm to TEAMtalk that the Ibrox club have met the player’s release clause in full, bringing protracted negotiations to a successful conclusion.
With only formalities remaining, including the medical and official paperwork, the move appears set to be completed shortly. Kim has already begun preparing for the switch and is understood to be packing his bags ahead of his departure from Catalonia.
The versatile forward, who prefers the left wing but can also operate on the right or in a more central attacking role, impressed last season while on loan at FC Andorra.
He contributed six goals and four assists in 40 appearances in Spain’s second tier, showcasing the directness, pace and technical quality that have marked him out as one of Asia’s most promising young talents.
He has also gained senior experience with Girona, including appearances in La Liga and the Champions League. Girona wanted him to stay but it is now the case that Rangers have landed a very talented forward.

Kim’s signing would represent a significant investment for Rangers and is expected to become the club’s 12th arrival of the summer window.
McInnes has repeatedly stressed the need for greater creativity and depth in wide areas, particularly after the collapse of a previous moves for other wingers.
Kim’s arrival would provide a long-term option capable of developing further under the manager’s guidance.
Girona are understood to be disappointed at losing a player they had hoped would feature prominently this season following their relegation.
However, with the release clause activated, the Spanish side had little choice but to accept the terms.
Assuming the medical proceeds without issue, Kim Min-su could be available for selection in the near future as Rangers continue their campiagn in the Scottish Premiership and European conference league.
Official confirmation from both clubs is anticipated once the final steps are completed.
