Goncalo Ramos has claimed that he does not feel the pressure from outside noise, after contributing to two goals for Portugal.

Portugal won and impressed in their first match without Cristiano Ronaldo, scoring four goals in Copenhagen in a 4-2 win over Denmark. The fact that the attack flourished after the CR7 drama will have been particularly pleasing for the head coach Jorge Jesus, too.

The team responded with great personality, especially Ramos, who had to play in Ronaldo’s place and did very well. The Milan striker netted a goal that he helped create after an assist for Joao Cancelo, and he generated a number of other opportunities.

Ramos spoke to Portuguese station RTP after the full-time whistle and he responded to the notion that there was a lot of pressure on him to lead the line with Ronaldo no longer in the camp.

“The external pressure doesn’t affect the importance of today’s match. It was another super-important match like all the others, now the most important thing is the next one, and that’s enough for our team,” he said (via MilanNews).

“Of course, it’s always nice to score, contribute, and provide an assist, but the most important thing is the win. We all have a lot of quality, the coach has a wide range of options, but obviously I’m happy to consolidate my position within the team.”
