Ramos ‘grateful’ to be getting opportunities with Portugal: “A source of pride”
Goncalo Ramos shared his thoughts after scoring again for Portugal, calling the goals for his country a source of pride.
Ramos started up front for his national team once again on Sunday night as Portugal took on Norway at home, hoping to make it four wins out of four in the current break. They managed to do so, triumphing 2-1 thanks to a winner inside the final 20 minutes from the Milan striker.
After the Nations League match, Ramos – who has scored three goals in four games played during this break – spoke to Sport TV to reflect on what was another important goal leading to another important win.
“What matters is the team’s play. I was there to score. As a striker, I had to be there. It seems easy, but it’s not. I always try to be grateful when I’m given the opportunity, because Joao Felix could have chosen a different conclusion,” he said (via MilanNews).
“These last three games are a source of pride and a demonstration of my work. We created many chances and I, as a striker, ended up benefiting from the quality that surrounded me. I’ve always shown that I’m available, even when I haven’t played much.
“It’s part of football, and these three games are proof of my work. Qualifying for the Nations League quarter-finals? We’re in a phase of adapting to the new coach, but we want to finish first in the group. The matches serve as training to make the necessary changes.”
Now, the hope for Ramos and for his compatriot Ruben Amorim has to be that the great form on the international stage translates to goals for Milan too, having netted just once since his €75m move from Paris Saint-Germain.
