Racing Reward Their Man
AS reports that Racing Santander are moving to improve Salinas’ terms now that the transfer window has closed with him still at the club. The newly promoted La Liga side had placed a £13.7 million release clause on the teenager, and the report says the club intend to reward him with improved terms.
Salinas can play at left-back and centre-back, which helps explain the reported interest. Racing claimed he was worth €16 million after promotion, while Spanish media have compared him to a left-footed Sergio Ramos. The transfer window closed without a deal for Salinas, Rayan Ait-Nouri or Alejandro Balde.

Barcelona, Atletico and Villa All Fell Short
Barcelona made a move worth just under €5 million, according to the AS report, but Racing refused to negotiate. Atletico Madrid reportedly offered €14 million, plus €1 million in add-ons and the loan of a player, but that proposal also failed to change Racing’s position.
Aston Villa were also credited with interest in Salinas. The report says Villa ultimately signed Ruggeri from Atletico Madrid instead, while Salinas remained at Racing Santander after the market closed.
