PSV have suddenly moved to the front of the queue for Azzedine Ounahi, Mundo Deportivo reports. Earlier in this transfer window, the midfielder was also firmly on Ajax's radar.

On Tuesday, PSV made an official bid, although it is unclear exactly how much they offered. What is clear is that the Eindhoven club will not meet the €25 million release clause.

According to the Spanish newspaper, things currently look very good for PSV. The Eindhoven club are already in talks with Girona to complete the transfer.

Reportedly, director of football Earnest Stewart wants to get the deal done as quickly as possible, before other clubs enter the fray.

"At the moment, PSV are the main candidates to sign Ounahi," Mundo Deportivo said. "The Eindhoven club are currently ahead of the other interested clubs because of the concrete bid they have made."

Previously, Ounahi had also been strongly linked with Ajax, where he could be reunited with coach Míchel. Hull City, Ipswich Town and Ittihad Club were also in the race.

Ounahi is under contract with Girona until mid-2030. Following relegation, he is allowed to leave Spain. According to reports from Spain, PSV are now in pole position.
