PSV's squad has changed sharply this week. Joey Veerman has left for Borussia Dortmund, while head coach Peter Bosz has welcomed two new signings in Filip Kostic and Lutsharel Geertruida.

Bosz addressed Veerman's departure at Friday's press conference. "To me it is clear that Joey has been very important for PSV and that he has helped ensure that we became champions three times in a row," he said. "He has performed for years at the top national level, because that is what we are."

There is no doubt in Bosz's mind that Veerman will succeed in the Bundesliga. "If you look at his strengths, then it is top-class. If you look only at his weaker points, then it is a different story. But he has really improved in that area."

Defensively, Bosz believes Veerman has come on. "Joey has become better defensively, tracks back more and picks up more second balls. There will certainly still be times when things pass him by, but you have to set up your team well to get the best out of him. He places balls perfectly for people making runs in behind, after a transition."

Kodai Sano had already arrived as more or less Veerman's replacement, and this week PSV also confirmed the signing of the sought-after Geertruida. The defender joined training for the first time on Friday and, according to Bosz, made an excellent impression.

Speaking about his new arrival, Bosz said: "A good player who anticipates well, and who is used to playing defensively with a lot of space in behind. Fundamentally just a very good footballer, with whom I had also spoken earlier."

Geertruida's move to PSV is a sensitive one, but Bosz said there were never any personal issues. "There were two parties who really wanted this very much and in the end the third party (RB Leipzig, ed.) also had to agree. That succeeded. Incidentally, I understand that Feyenoord fans are disappointed, but you can also go too far. Even if you are a big Feyenoord supporter, you should still respond with respect," Bosz concluded.
