Peter Bosz: ‘I really put Ryan Flamingo in his place. Come on, that simply can’t happen, can it?’
Peter Bosz shared a striking anecdote about Ryan Flamingo during a masterclass on Omroep Brabant. The PSV coach says he recently firmly 'put his defender in his place'.
During the broadcast, Bosz is presented with a number of propositions. One of them is the classic dilemma between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. "Messi, without any doubt. Messi," replies the PSV coach when asked to choose between the two greats.
Inside the PSV squad, though, not everyone finds that choice so straightforward. Flamingo, for one, prefers Ronaldo, much to Bosz's dismay.
"Yes, Ryan (Flamingo, ed.). I really put him in his place! Come on, that's just not possible, is it?" says Bosz, prompting laughter in the studio. "To be completely honest. You have Messi and you have Ronaldo...," he continues.
"I have a great deal of respect for Ronaldo, you know. What that man has achieved and what he is still doing at this age... Even though you can see that it really is becoming less. But he doesn't have what Messi has," the PSV coach believes.
So much did Bosz enjoy Messi that he even dragged his colleagues into it. "Well, back when I was coach at Heracles, I used to have my staff come to my house whenever Barcelona were playing."
"Watching was compulsory then. Yes, it was such a joy. Barcelona under Guardiola, so beautiful," Bosz concludes.
