Tottenham Hotspur center midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is one of a few players in the first team who could hear his name in a "Here We Go" before the summer 2026 transfer window ends, as he is on the shopping list with the Saudi Pro League and even local rivals Brentford, whom Spurs will play in the 2026/27 Premier League season opener, interested in his services.

Sarr began the 2025/26 campaign under Thomas Frank as a regular starter and looked like a possible breakout star, playing legitimately the best ball of his career to start the season under a manager who pretty much dragged everyone else into an abyss.

While Sarr's play fell off badly as the season went on, it can't be forgotten how great he looked at the start of the campaign for both Tottenham and the Senegal natioanl team. He worked hard, as ever, to win the ball and progress play in transitions, but on Senegal, Sarr was even better, showing a high level of technical quality and making decisive actions in terms of goals and assists.

Patrick Vieira can be great news for Pape Matar Sarr

Tottenham Hotspur will sell Pape Matar Sarr in a heartbeat if they get the right offer, but with the summer transfer window set to end in less than two weeks and no top offer on the table as of right now, it is looking more likely than not that Sarr will stay at N17.

And if he does, the latest Senegal national team managing appointment could help Sarr develop and eventually work his way back into the future plans of Tottenham, even under Roberto De Zerbi despite Sarr's strengths not quite fitting RDZ's philosophy and playing style in possession.

As per Fabrizio Romano, the Senegal national team have confirmed the hire of manager Patrick Vieira, a former French national team, Juventus, and, of course, Arsenal legend and one of the greatest defensive midfielders of all time.

If anyone can help mentor Sarr to the top, then it is Vieira, who was a great leader and a ruthless perfectionist as a player. Vieira could get anyone to show fire and fight, which Tottenham fans know all too well from his days of being invincible with Arsenal, and a midfielder like Sarr who needs that extra bit of fire in him can benefit a lot from that. Sarr is still relatively young and has potential, and working with both De Zerbi and Vieira going into 2027 could be what he needs to get his career fully on track.
