Panathinaikos FC in for Reo Hatate, Celtic in transfer talks over Bolivian winger

Hatate has not played this season, and hardly featured last campaign under Martin O’Neill, and the 28 year old has expressed his desire to seek a new challenge elsewhere.
The Greek Super League outfit had a poor 2025/26 campaign, and are looking to revamp their squad for the upcoming season.
It’s being reported via Daily Record that the Athens based side could offer Hatate a bumper pay increase to join in this transfer window.
Panathinaikos isn’t the only club interested in Celtic’s Japanese playmaker, with other European clubs and teams in the Middle East also keen on signing the former Kawasaki Frontale man.
Despite having just signed Miko Baur, Celtic have just sold Arne Engels to West Ham for a fee believed to be worth £25 million, so will need at least another one midfielder in, possibly two when Reo departs.
There’s a list of potential incomings to solve that dilemma, with the likes of Hajduk Split’s Niko Sigur, Torino’s Gvidas Gineitis, and Hibs’ Miguel Chaiwa all been linked with moves to Celtic in the last few weeks. At this stage Niko Sigur appears to be the most likely but that could change quickly.
Meanwhile, it’s also been reported that Celtic are reported to be in talks to sign Bolivian teenager Moises Paniagua. The 18 year old who has already amassed nine caps and two goals for his nation is currently on loan at Moroccan side Wydad AC, from Club Always Ready.
According to El Diaro in Bolivia, Celtic are one of three clubs that have spoken to his representatives about a move. The two other interested clubs are Ajax and Ferencvaros.
His agent, Silvio Fontana, has confirmed via Glasgow Times, that he has met with the three clubs, and they are currently discussing whether a loan to buy deal or straight out transfer is possible.
It’s said that Ferencvaros are leading the race for the highly rated youngster, although Celtic are also keen, although Wydad has option to buy Paniagua as part of the loan deal, something that could affect the transfer situation.
Yesterday Celtic secured a place in the Premier Sports Cup quarter final draw which will take place later today, after an impressive 4-0 win over Dundee united at Tannadice. The goals came from Auston Trusty, Camilo Duran, Sebastian Tounekti and Man of the Match Benjamin Nygren.
Next up for the Hoops is the Champions League Play-off matches against Austria’s Champions LANZ with the first match at Celtic Park on Wednesday evening.
