Outrage in Italy as Baresi mural outside Casa Milan is vandalised

Milan are seeking those responsible after a mural of legendary captain Franco Baresi outside Casa Milan was vandalised on Sunday, with red paint sprayed across his face.

A mural of Milan and Italy legend Franco Baresi was vandalised on Sunday. The mural, located outside Milan’s headquarters, Casa Milan, was created after the former defender passed away in July at the age of 66.

Red paint was sprayed across Baresi’s face and also used to cover the shirt sponsor, the artist’s signature and the words ‘You’ll never walk alone.’

The picture of the vandalised mural was initially shared on social media by Milan city councillor Alessandro Giungi, who expressed his outrage over the incident.

Gazzetta reports that Milan have already taken action and hope authorities will identify those responsible for the shameful act of vandalism through CCTV cameras in the area.

Widely regarded as one of Italy’s greatest-ever players, Baresi was honoured across Italian football following his death on July 31, 2026.

Earlier this month, Juventus and their fans paid tribute to Baresi at the Allianz Stadium before their Serie A match against Milan.
