Ordine: Two ‘warning signs’ behind ‘highly questionable behaviour’ of Maignan and Rabiot

Franco Ordine has revealed two worrying bits of information regarding Mike Maignan and Adrien Rabiot’s possible dissatisfaction.

The headlines over the past couple of days have been dominated by the Maignan and Rabiot saga. In case you missed it, the French duo asked for and obtained approval to extend their vacation by four days, meaning they will miss the final summer friendly against Manchester United.

After Maignan failed to attend Franco Baresi’s funeral as the club captain, it has caused some fans to be up in arms about a perceived lack of commitment, especially compared to players at rival clubs who went just as far in the World Cup.

Now, Franco Ordine has published his take on events in a column for MilanNews, suggesting there might be something more to it than just an extended holiday.

“I’d like to suggest two interpretations of the highly questionable behaviour of Maignan, the captain, and Rabiot. In the first case, I’m told he’s not at all happy with the change in goalkeeping coach, going from Max’s [Claudio Filippi] who later went to Florence, to the unknown with Amorim,” he said.

“In the second case, it’s documented that already at the end of last season, Rabiot’s mother showed up at the club demanding a salary increase if they reached the Champions League zone. These two early warning signs are more worrying than the late return from the post-World Cup vacation.”
