Oliver Sørensen’s first impressions of Celtic – “It’s a very, very good team”

Celtic supporters got their first glimpse of new signing Oliver Sørensen in action last night when he replaced Benjamin Nygren just after an hour in the 3-0 win over Aberdeen at Celtic Park…

The Danish midfielder joined Celtic for Italian side Parma on a season long loan with Celtic having an option to buy next summer. And after a standout few season at Midtjylland his move to Italy hasn’t been as successful as he’d have liked and the chance to re-ignite his career in the Hoops is a prospect he is relishing.

Today the new Celt spoke the mainstream media with the Celtic fan media currently banned. Indeed we contacted Celtic’s Head of Communications Iain Jamieson last week asking how the club were getting on with their “review” of fan media which they claimed was happening last December. No response was received.

The 24 year-old was asked about fellow Dane Benjamin Nygren who he knows from Danish football and also for his early impressions of the Celtic side.

“My first impression is that there is a lot of quality, and it’s a very, very good team,” Oliver said.

“It’s a club and a team that plays very attacking football, so I’m ready to work for the team and then hopefully make a few goals as well.”

Asked to describe what kind of player he is and what the Celtic support can expect Oliver Sørensen reckons he can provide more running than what’s around him in the Celtic midfield with so many technical players. “I think I’m a different profile than most of the midfielders now. I’m more like a running player and all of them are good dictators of the game. So, I think I bring maybe a different dynamic,” Sørensen answered.

On the Europa League campaign, from what he has seen so far, he believes that there is np reason why this group can’t make a serious impact on European football’s second tier competition. The Dane also revealed that he enjoyed watching videos of Celtic’s dramatic title win on the final day of the season against Derek McInnes and his broken Hearts team.
